Snow Day Snack

Every time it snows in England, I think of the headline I saw on my 21st birthday while studying in London: 'INCH OF SNOW BRINGS CHAOS.' Pretty much. When it snowed 2in in 2009, the entire West End shut down. Oblivious to any issues and happening to live on a functional rail line, I went to work like any other day. I was greeted like an Arctic explorer. "You're HERE?! How did you do it?!?! Are you okay? Do you have frostbite? Do you need rations? Is the dogsled outside?" And so on.

Today, this is the view from my dining room table:

And my bedroom window:

Needless to say, today is not going to be a day to venture out into the world, both because it is cold and because I anticipate a great deal of this part of the world is not functioning.

It's supposed to keep going into late tonight, I think, which makes me quite pleased with myself I made sure to have plenty of hot cocoa supplies on hand last night. Even better, a friend at the Institute posted a recipe for microwave mug brownies! 1/4 c. flour, 1/4 sugar, 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder, 2 Tbsp. oil, 3 Tbsp. water, pinch of salt. Mix together, microwave for 1:40....and done! As soon as I saw it, I gave it a go. It immediately brought back memories of EZ Bake ovens, but in a good way.

A little warm chocolate cake on a snowy weekend? Don't mind if I do.
